Accuracy is a critical component in implant dentistry. But, of course, the key to success in any implant case begins with the surgery. Advancements in this area continue to drive better restorative outcomes. Recently Burbank Dental Lab received a demo on the Yomi Robotic System by Neocis. Robot-assisted surgery is an incredible advancement in the area of dental surgery.

Robotic-Assisted Dental Surgery
While robotic surgery is quite common in other medical disciplines, it is a relatively new application in dental implant placement. Robotic-assisted dental surgery (RADS) offers both a visual navigation as well as haptic guidance for implant treatment planning, osteotomy planning, and placement of the implant.

While dental implant surgeries have come a long way in terms of accuracy thanks to guided surgery applications, there are still issues that can arise. Problems such as perforation of the maxillary sinus, injury to nerves, inferior alveolar canal, tissue damage, and implant failure can occur. These issues can lead to infections causing the patient further medical problems, especially concerning the sinus area. When information and precision are increased, it stands to reason that implant failures will decrease.

The YOMI Alternative Approach
The Yomi demonstration at Burbank Dental Lab revealed an alternative approach to how surgical treatments are done through this technology. The technology follows this workflow:

Traditional guided implant surgery has limitations should the clinician need to change something during the surgical process. Yomi provides the clinician with the information and ability to change the plan during the procedure.

Benefits of YOMI Robotic-Assisted Surgery
The Yomi system provides the clinician with the flexibility to perform implant surgery with tactile cues to keep the surgery within the guidelines of the treatment plan. In addition, the system provides the following benefits:
Burbank Dental Lab understands the importance of providing the clinicians we partner with information on the latest advancements in dentistry. Yomi fits our criteria for offering technologies that truly push dentistry forward. This is why we have invited Neocis back to Burbank Dental Lab to provide a demonstration for clinicians of the system and answer any specific questions you may have. Call and speak with one of our representatives to reserve your spot to register.
The presentation will take place on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
We will also have limited 1-on-1 demonstrations for qualified clinicians on March 4, 2022. Call for more information.
