Indications of Use

KeySplint Clear Night Guards is the most aesthetic, best-in-class material for night guards and bite splint applications. KeySplint is revolutionizing night guard technology with its clear shade resin that is durable enough to withstand the forces of bruxism and flexible enough for patient comfort.

Adding Carbon’s 3-D printing technology, this combination of materials and printing is an improvement over traditional acrylics and thermoform materials from a a wear and life expectancy standpoint.

The Burbank Dental Lab team has worked closely with Carbon for nearly 2-years to optimize Carbon’s complex hardware and software systems with the KeySplint material to produce the best quality night guard.

Andrew Sedler, COO of Burbank Dental Lab says, “The product is off the charts game changing whether you are looking at value or quality. The product delivers both in spades.”

Contraindications

KeySplint Soft Clear for Carbon printers contains methacrylate monomers and oligomers which, although rare, may cause an allergic reaction in individuals sensitive to acrylic-containing products.

What is the difference between KeySplint Soft and KeySplint Soft Clear for Carbon Printers?

KeySplint Soft is a light violet translucent 3D printing resin designed for open source DLP printers and is compatible with most DLP printers with wavelengths between 385-405nm. KeySplint Soft Clear is a clear/transparent 3D printing resin optimized for the Carbon M-Series printers (385nm). The physical properties of both shades are equivalent, and they are both biocompatible medical devices.

What are the wear expectations for KeySplint Soft Clear for Carbon Printers?

Based on it’s unique chemistries, it is expected that KeySplint Soft Clear devices will wear as long, if not longer, than devices made from traditional methods like hand-created acrylic and thermoformed products. Check out this independent Wear Study of KeySplint Soft and KeySplint Soft Clear for more information and details.

My KeySplint Soft device appeared to look yellow/green on day one, but cleared up after a couple of days. Why does this happen?

The difference between the day 1 and day 2 splint is a photo-bleaching phenomenon inherent in certain UV-cured products and most obvious in “clear” products. The post-cure process will “excite” certain materials for a short duration, and the molecules relax, the discoloration subsides. In summary, if you see this phenomenon, the device should become more clear within 12-24 hours after post cure process is finished. If other color deficiencies are experienced (not from normal patient wear), please call or chat us.
