Vincent Naalbandian: Burbank Dental Implant Director

Vincent Naalbandian - Career

Vincent Naalbandian, an indispensable part of the Burbank Dental Lab Team.

Vince first became interested in dentistry when four of his friends were headed to dental school. Because he could not afford dental school, he chose to enter a Denturist program at Collège Édouard-Montpetit, in Montreal. Vincent’s career in dentistry began in 1990 when he entered the Denturist program, and he became very passionate about changing lives by giving people teeth and a new smile.

"Vincent has been a great influence in the development of advanced technologies at Burbank Dental Lab over the years and has also provided leadership to some of the nation's most experienced dental implant restoration technicians."

After graduation, Vincent launched his own denturist practice and began making smiles come true. “There is nothing like the feeling of watching someone see their new smile for the first time. It is so satisfying.” Vincent practiced for 7 years in Montreal. He also had the opportunity to work at the University Hospital of St. Joseph’s Health where he began to learn and work with implant restorative cases. He was very good at what he did; it was easy for him because he loved it. What he did not love, however, was -25º C for months on end. It was time to head for a warmer climate.

In 2000 Vincent began a new life in  Loma Linda, in southern California. Working with Prosthodontist Dr. Tony Daher of Loma Linda, Vincent enriched his experience working with complex implant cases and was very personally involved with the clinical team and the patients. This is where he was exposed to All-On-Four dental implant cases and became familiar with the dental lab side as well as the chairside conversion process for these advanced dental implant restorative cases.

In 2003 Vincent became the implant manager of a commercial lab in the Los Angeles area. During this time Vincent gained the experience and learned how a production process can be efficient for both the lab and the clinician with delivery consistent results on a predictable time schedule. He learned how important this is for all parties, especially on complex cases that can get out of control if someone is not involved in the moment by moment evaluation of case progress, status and quality control at every step.

In 2008 Burbank Dental Lab was fortunate to bring Vincent on board as the director of the Lab's implant division. At Burbank Dental Lab, Vincent has influenced the development of advanced technologies that have been brought online allowing Burbank Dental Lab to bring virtually all of the abutment and bar milling in-house. This has benefited our clinician clients by bringing down many of the fees and increasing quality and faster turn-around. Vincent now oversees several CAD/CAM designers as well as a conventional technician team of some of the nation's most experienced dental implant restoration technicians.

When asked what Vincent does as a hobby, he shrugs, “I don’t really have any hobbies, I love dentistry and spend down time reading, and learning more about dentistry and dental implants.”  But there is one passion in his life - his family. He loves to spend time with his wife and three children. Their favorite past time is going to the beach. After all, the California sunshine is why he escaped the frozen tundra. These days, if you don’t find Vincent at the bench or some dental implant seminar, you will most likely see him in shorts and sandals with his kids, sand between his toes, and zinc oxide on his nose.
