Smart1 implant abutments are custom engineered to best meet each patient’s case needs. Burbank Dental Lab uses the most advanced design and milling technologies to deliver the most precise fits available. Burbank Dental Lab has developed the technology in order to deliver abutments that are compatible with most major implant platforms. Great care is taken with design decisions to facilitate ideal emergence and contours in order to create an optimized soft-tissue contour and esthetics. Our confidence in the quality of Smart1® custom abutments is backed by a 7-year limited warranty.

Burbank Dental Laboratory’s Smart1 offers two types of custom implant abutments for cementable restorations: Titanium or Zirconia w/Ti Base. This attention to design details ensures easy delivery of the final restoration and ideal cosmetic results.

Indications for use

For use in a single tooth or multi-abutment cementable cases.
Contraindications:? Not recommended when interocclusal space is under 8 mm, (Minimum of 8 mm of crown height space.

The ideal space, however, for a cement-retained prosthesis is 9 mm to 10 mm in the posterior and 10 mm to 12 mm in a maxillary central.)

Clinical Handling:

Open tray impressions are the recommended technique whenever possible.

Delivery and Cementation

  • Tighten abutment in with a torque wrench set to the implant manufacturer’s specifications, usually between 15 Ncm & 35 Ncm.
  • Close the abutment screw hole with a PTFE tape (Teflon). The tape can be sterilized and does not pick up a bad odor.
  • Place a ring of cement about 1-2 millimeters from the margin.
  • Many clinicians recommend NOT using a permanent cement, instead use a cement designed for crown placement on implant abutments, specifically so that the crown and abutment can be retrievable. Examples: Premier Implant Cement (Premier) or Telio CS Cem implant (Ivoclar). These are radiopaque, which is important for spotting any sub-gingival excess. Another suggestion is to use a Polycarboxylate cement mixed with Vaseline.
