E.max Veneer Cases: Achieving the Best Results

mm Written by Andrew Sedler

E.max veneers are a popular choice among patients who desire a beautiful and natural-looking smile. These veneers are made of high-quality dental ceramic that has been specially formulated to mimic the appearance of natural teeth. E.max veneers are known for their strength, durability, and aesthetic appeal.

Advantages of E.Max Veneers

E.max veneers offer several advantages over other types of veneers. One of the primary benefits of e.max veneers is their strength and durability. These veneers are made from high-quality dental ceramic designed to withstand the wear and tear of daily use.

Unlike other types of veneers, e.max veneers are less likely to crack or chip, making them an ideal choice for patients who are looking for a long-lasting solution to improve the appearance of their teeth.

In addition to their strength, e.max veneers also offer excellent aesthetics. The dental ceramic used to create e.max veneers is translucent, allowing light to pass through the veneer and reflect off the natural tooth underneath. This creates a lifelike appearance difficult to distinguish from natural teeth.

E.max veneers also come in a variety of shades, allowing dentists to match the color of the veneers to the patient’s existing teeth.

The advantages of e.max veneers include the following:

  • E.max veneers are made from a high-strength ceramic material that is both durable and long-lasting.
  • E.max veneers are translucent and can be customized to match the color and shade of the patient’s natural teeth, creating a natural-looking smile.
  • E.max veneers are more resistant to chipping and cracking than other veneers, making them a popular choice for patients looking for a long-term solution for their cosmetic dental needs.
  • E.max veneers are more conservative than traditional porcelain veneers, as they require less removal of the natural tooth structure during the preparation process.
  • E.max veneers are biocompatible, meaning they are not harmful to the body and are well-tolerated by patients.
  • E.max veneers are easy to maintain and care for, requiring no special cleaning or maintenance beyond regular brushing and flossing.
  • E.max veneers can be used to address a variety of cosmetic dental issues, including discoloration, chipped or broken teeth, and gaps between teeth.
  • E.max veneers can improve patients’ self-confidence and overall quality of life by giving them a brighter, more attractive smile.

E.Max Case Selection

Dr. LaJean Morrow-Smith of Premier Dental in Greensboro, North Carolina asked Burbank Dental Lab to help restore this case and help this patient achieve his desired results.

This patient presented to Dr. Morrow-Smith was an excellent candidate for e.max veneers. The patient was unhappy with the color, shape, alignment, and size of her existing teeth. She wanted a brighter, more vibrant smile. Dr. Smith suggested e.max veneers knowing that this material would provide the patient with the esthetics that she desired and the strength and durability that would make these restorations last.

E.max Veneer Cases: Achieving the Best Results

E.Max Veneers Case Design

Dr. LaJean Morrow Smith indicated that the patient’s preparation shade color was an ND2. The patient chose a BL1 shade. Teeth numbers 4-13 were waxed up to ideal contours, and long embrasures were designed to avoid creating any possible black triangles.

The case was then pressed using Ivoclar’s high translucency BL1 e.max ingots. This case was waxed with a slight cutback so that the internal characteristics could be layered in to help create a more natural, anatomically correct restoration.

Avoiding Open Gingival Embrasures

Black triangles, also known as open gingival embrasures, are spaces between teeth that can occur for various reasons, including gum recession, bone loss, or the shape and size of the teeth. These spaces can be unsightly, affect speech, and lead to food impaction and gum disease.

E.max Veneer Cases: Achieving the Best Results

There are several ways to help prevent black triangles during the preparation of teeth:

  • Proper tooth preparation: The dentist should carefully prepare the teeth to ensure that they are not over-contoured or under-contoured. Over-contouring can cause the teeth to push apart while under-contouring can result in gaps between teeth.
  • Use of digital scanners: Digital scanners can be used to create more accurate impressions of teeth. This can help the dentist prepare teeth more precisely and avoid creating black triangles.
  • Gum recontouring: If the gums are uneven or too low, the dentist may recommend gum recontouring. This procedure involves removing excess gum tissue to create a more even gum line.
  • Orthodontic treatment: Braces or clear aligners can help to straighten teeth and close any gaps between them.
  • Restoration type: The type of dental restoration used can also affect the appearance of black triangles. For example, a dental veneer that is too thick or poorly designed may create black triangles. Having a dental lab that understands the proper design of veneers is critical to avoid this issue.

Achieving Optimal Results

To achieve the best results with E.max veneers, there are several factors to consider.

First, it is important to properly prepare the teeth before placing the veneers. This involves removing anywhere from 0.3mm to 0.7mm enamel from the front of the tooth to make room for the veneer. The extent of tooth reduction varies based on factors such as tooth alignment, discoloration, and the final appearance desired. It is possible to obtain veneers without preparation or with minimal preparation in some cases.

Once the teeth have been prepared, it is important to take accurate impressions of the teeth to ensure that the veneers fit properly. A well-fitting veneer is essential for achieving a natural and aesthetically pleasing result. The impressions should be taken using a high-quality impression material or a digital scan.

After placing the veneers, it is important to provide patients with proper aftercare instructions. Patients should be advised to avoid hard or sticky foods for the first few days after the procedure. They should also be reminded to brush and floss regularly to maintain the health of their teeth and gums.

E.max veneers are an excellent choice for patients looking to improve the appearance of their teeth. These veneers offer several advantages over other types of veneers, including their strength, durability, and aesthetic appeal. It is important to properly prepare the teeth, take accurate impressions, and use a high-quality dental lab with master ceramists to achieve masterful results.
