3 STEPS TO
PHOTOGRAMMETRY SCANNING

WE HELP YOU GET IT RIGHT
EVERY TIME

STEP 1

Burbank Dental Lab implant scan specialist provides the special scan bodies for insertion in the patient’s newly placed implant sites.

STEP 2

Scan Bodies are removed and special healing abutments are placed on the implant sites. Soft tissue can now be scanned with an intra-oral scanner.

STEP 3

The data from both scans are then sent to the dental laboratory. The ICam4d data and soft tissue scans are aligned to become a high-precision dental model.

  • Multiple retakes consume valuable chair time
  • Frustrated patients and practitioners
  • Increased costs and delays

Digital Workflow

Proper tooth preparation is crucial for the success of zirconia crowns, ensuring optimal fit, strength, and aesthetics. Here are the ideal preparation guidelines for anterior and posterior zirconia crowns:

Early Planning

Connect with our implant specialist at the beginning of your case.  An accurate record of the patient’s pre-existing dentition must be retained to help with final tooth placement and in determining the midline. This record can be in the form of study models or an existing denture.

Surgical Preparation

A surgical guide is recommended to help determine the ideal implant placement. The guided surgery appliances from Burbank Dental Lab offer a precision fit.

As one of the industry’s most technologically advanced dental labs, Burbank Dental Lab can fabricate guided surgery appliances using several different workflows.

Scheduling

Contact us at least 72 hours before the patient’s surgery appointment to schedule our scan specialist’s visit.

SCANNING SERVICES AREAS

Standard pricing within 20-mile radius of Burbank (91504)

$200 travel surcharge for 21-100 mile radius

Digital Scanning

The Burbank Dental Lab Specialist will:

  • Provide and place ICamBodies for precise measurements
  • Perform the extraoral scan
  • Install ICamRefs healing abutments
  • Capture soft tissue details via intraoral scanning or rapid impression

Digital Processing

At the same appointment, the scan bodies are removed and special healing abutments (ICamRefs) are placed on the implant sites. The soft tissue can now be scanned with an intra-oral scanner, or a rapid impression can be taken and then scanned with a special scanner at the dental lab.

Data Transfer

The data from both scans are then sent to Burbank Dental Lab and imported to Imetric4D scanning software. The ICam4d data and gum tissue scans are aligned to become a high-precision dental model that is identical to the patient’s mouth.

Prosthetic Creation

Now, the final fixed prosthesis can be manufactured. This step should be determined in the initial consultation with one of our digital specialists. The precision of the scan by the specialist will ensure a passive fit and in most cases, a turnaround time of one to two days. Burbank Dental Lab has many options when it comes to the final prosthesis.

Choose from our premium restoration options:

ZIRMAX M® Hybrid

  • Superior esthetics
  • Exceptional durability

SmartComposite Hybrid

SMART 1 Screw Retained

  • Porcelain fused to CO/CR

Advantages for Practitioners

  • Eliminate retakes with 10-15 micron accuracy.
  • The passive fit of the framework diminishes the need for prosthesis adjustments.
  • Reduce chair time significantly due to the ease of placing the scan bodies and the relatively quick scan time
  • Streamline your digital workflow
  • Achieve predictable outcome
  • Save on traditional impression materials

Patient Benefits

  • Comfortable, stress-free procedure
There is no stress due to the taking of the impressions. The ICam4D system is fast and comfortable when compared to traditional methods.
  • No extreme mouth positions are required.
The measurements can be done with a lip extractor only. There is no need to open the mouth to extreme positions as is needed with intraoral scanners.
  • Superior fitting restorations
Try-ins are eliminated because parts will fit perfectly
  • Enhanced long-term comfort
Improved patient comfort due to the improved quality of the fit of the final restoration.
  • Fewer appointments are needed and faster treatment timelines
Shortening treatment times are possible as early load protocols are much more feasible.
